Retraction Policy
Journal of Applied Cryptanalysis & System Integrity (JACSI)
JACSI follows COPE Retraction Guidelines (https://publicationethics.org/retraction-guidelines).
Types of Post-Publication Notices
#### 1. Erratum (Journal Error)
- Corrects errors introduced by the journal during production (typesetting, formatting)
- Published as a separate notice linked to the original article
- The original article is updated with a note referencing the erratum
#### 2. Corrigendum (Author Error)
- Corrects errors made by the authors that do not affect the conclusions
- Examples: incorrect figure labels, calculation typos, missing acknowledgments
- Published as a separate notice linked to the original article
#### 3. Retraction
Published when:
- Results are unreliable due to misconduct (fabrication, falsification, plagiarism) or honest error
- Findings have been previously published elsewhere without proper attribution (redundant publication)
- The research constitutes unethical research
- The peer review process was compromised
- Authorship is disputed and the rightful authors cannot be determined
Retraction process:
1. The Editor-in-Chief investigates the concern (with author cooperation)
2. If retraction is warranted, a retraction notice is published
3. The retracted article remains accessible but is clearly marked "RETRACTED" with a watermark
4. The retraction notice explains the reason(s)
5. Crossref metadata is updated to reflect the retraction
6. The authors' institution may be notified
#### 4. Expression of Concern
Published when:
- There is inconclusive evidence of misconduct
- An investigation is ongoing
- The integrity of the work is questioned but not definitively compromised
An Expression of Concern may later be upgraded to a retraction or resolved with a correction.
#### 5. Removal (Exceptional)
In exceptional cases, an article may be removed entirely:
- If the article contains content that poses a legal risk (defamation, privacy violation)
- If leaving the article accessible could cause serious harm
- A placeholder notice remains explaining that the article was removed
